8 Foods that Burn the Most Fat

While all foods stimulate metabolism, some types of food may boost metabolism better. Some foods can also make you feel full longer than others. Here are some of those foods:

Nuts help boost energy levels and curb hunger. They are also packed with protein and good fats. According to the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism, eating nuts for over three months can improve diet without weight gain. 

Oily fish

Fish like salmon contains essential omega-3 fatty acids and protein that can offset hunger.

Plain yogurts contain a variety of vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and different types of protein like casein and whey. According to the Nutrition Journal, eating yogurt can control appetite, offset hunger, and lower overall food consumption.

Chili peppers

A 2012 review published in the journal Appetite found that the chemical capsaicin found in Chilli peppers may boost fat burning and subdue appetite.

Oil from coconut contains a type of fat called medium-chain triglycerides. According to a 2015 meta-analysis published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, this type of fat could lead to weight loss. Several scientists also believe that this type of fat encourage energy consumption and lessens fat stores.

Aiding in weight loss is just one of the many benefits of drinking green tea. According to the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, consuming green tea helps overweight or obese people lose weight.

Basing a meal on a fat-burning food to lose weight can also be an option. For example, you may have a meal of salmon and vegetables for lunch, or eggs and whole-grain toast for breakfast. 

If you limit your food to plant-based, you can mix fat-burning foods like split peas with other plant-based protein sources. For snacks, nuts would be a great option. 


Some foods can aid in weight loss by burning fat. However, maintaining an overall healthful diet is still crucial. Regular physical activity is also necessary to burn fat and lose weight, as these fat-burning foods will not cause significant results loss on their own.
